After taking the EGM Teacher Course in Mexico, Vasti Camacho exclaimed, "I now understand the importance of giving the children the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned in Sunday school!"

One of the ways that she put into practice the five elements of the Model Children's Worker was by providing the "ladder of obedience" worksheet for the children to take home. This gave the children a way to respond to the Word of God in their real lives. Every time a child showed an act of obedience at home, his or her parent could sign one of the steps on the "ladder of obedience" worksheet.

This was just what Miguel needed! He is one of the boys in Vasti's class. Miguel would dash into the classroom each week without saying hello to the teacher, who was standing at the doorway. When he was asked, "how are you?" His response was always the same, "bad." After teaching the Bible lesson, Vasti gave the children the "ladder of obedience" worksheet and explained how it works.

During the week, Vasti asked Miguel's mother how he was doing with his obedience ladder. Her face lit up with a beautiful, wide smile as she explained, "Miguel rises early to get dressed in his school uniform. He goes to school each day without complaining. When he returns from school, he helps out with whatever chores I give him, even the not-so-agreeable ones. I am so thankful that Miguel has become so cooperative."

Miguel really understood how he should respond to the Bible lesson that he had learned. He would continually tell his mother, "Mom, don't forget to sign my ladder worksheet, because my teacher said that you have to sign it whenever I obey, and I'm obeying!"

Vasti is so grateful for the training that she received. She says, "Other moms have come forward with similar testimonies. They are grateful for the "ladder of obedience" and ask for a new one each week."
