At the invitation of church leaders in 8 countries, EGM is developing a Bible teaching curriculum to bridge the gap between the Word of God and real lives of boys and girls.

In churches around the world, ministry to children is nothing more than a Bible story, memory verse, and a sons.  Christianity is often taught like any other subject in school.  Unfortunately  many churches, there are no organized ministries to children at all!

The fruit of this approach is evident in the lives of children who never experience the transforming power of God's Word.  In 1993, Every Generation Ministries began working with children's workers and churches to help them experience a new way of ministry to children.  After years of work, EGM has obvserved how difficult it is for children's workers to break away from the old 'school-model' of ministry.  At the invitation of church leaders in 8 countries, EGM is developing a Bible teaching curriculum to bridge the gap between the Word of God and the real lives of boys and girls.  The INTERNATIONAL CURRICULUM INITIATIVE is producing materials that are:

Romanian Class Using Curriculum
Romanian Class Using Curriculum

·    Thoroughly Biblicaly
·    Developmentally Appropriate
·     Culturally Relevant
·     Absolutely Practical

In order to make this a reality, EGM has taken on an innovative approach to curriculum resource development.  Translating materials that are written within one culture and language and applying them to children in another is not life changing.  Thus EGM realized the need for a new, cost-effective way to develop curriculum resources.  The skeleton lesson approach was born.  With the skeleton lesson approach, the beginning elements of each lesson are written with a team of writers connected to the EGM-US office.  This team creates the elements of the lesson that do not focus on life change and application.  These skeleton elements are then sent to each of our national partners.  The national leadership within each of the countries are then responsible for translating, adapting and finishing each lesson.   When complete each lesson will look and feel completely native to the country that is printing it.  The artwork and layout as the applicational elements will be culturally appropriate as well .

This project, when complete will span 9 years of a child's life.  It will provide the teacher with "experiential" activities to help connect with the heart of children.  The "truth" section will provide a creative way to tell the Bible story.  Discussion questions will connect the heart of the child to the truths of the story, allowing them to talk about their real-life issues.  Finally, a child will have the opportunity to respond to the life changing truth while in the classroom and then be challenged to live it out in their real life.  All of this will be done within an environment of warm and loving relationships.  Many of the countries are also including extra resources for each lesson, including a teacher devotional, a Bible memory verse activity and a parent take home page.

The curriculum is currently in the hands of Romanian children's workers.  Here is what one of our staff members saw while he was in a Romanian church:

Today, I entered a classroom in Bucharest, Romania and actually saw with my own eyes a Romanian teacher guide a group of Romanian children through the class hour using curriculum produced by EGM-Romania.  What a sight!
·       I saw a team of teachers energized by excellent creative ideas that made them feel confident and effective in communicating God's truth.
·       I saw children engaged in the wonder of experiencing God's truth, having fun and grasping the truth in a transformational way.
·       I saw a boy with real behavior problems eventually connect with God's truth because of his teacher's commitment to a relational approach to children's ministry.
·       I saw a parent who has become convinced that God's Word can make a difference in his child's life and has enthusiastically agreed to participate in the process of his child's spiritual development.
·
I saw church leaders that now believe they have the tools to offer the best children's ministry program available to the people of their community.

God is at work through this project, will you join us in reaching children by helping to provide teachers all over the world with quality materials?
