Ukraine
The church in Ukraine is growing rapidly.  In the last 10 years the number of evangelical churches has grown from 2,500 to 25,000.

Recently Ukraine has undergone some significant changes in the last few months.  The transition that began in 1991 developedd at a slow pace until December 2005, when the critical Orange Revolution accelerated the change to lightning fast speed.  The Evangelical Church in Ukraine played a significant role in these changes.  During th elast twelve months the pace of secularization, modernization, economic and social change has been breathtaking.  Image

As has been the case in other societies, this climate of change has produced significant problems.  With new freedoms have come the challenges posed by materialism, moral licentiousness, internet pornography, access to new narcotics, alcoholism, a rising divorce rate and the alluring appeal of a secular life.  Additionally, the traditional schooling approaches to Christian eduction have quickly become outdated and increasingly ineffective.

In this massive sea of social change the church finds itself searching for effective ways to communicate the Gospel to children and give them a means for living a Christ centered life.  Church leaders are seeking new ways to connect the Word of God to the real lives of children.  In light of these ministry opportunities, there is a tremendous need to develop children's workers that model the characteristics found in Dueteronomy 6.  Churches are asking EGM to establish leadership training programs and produce Bible teaching materials that will help develop a growing number of children's worers who exhibit these qualities.  They want our help and our answer is yes!

The pastors and leaders of Ukraine have risen to this challenge.  There is a newly formed board in place that is currently hiring a director for the ministry.  This leadership team will work to develop training and resources for those who love children throughout Ukraine.  This team is already planning on publishing a summer camp curriculum that is focused on life transformation.

Some of the goals of this project:
•  To work with at least 33% of all Evangelical Christian churches on a nationwide basis to have effective programs for children and families led by trained workers.
•  Produce and distribute needed Bible teaching materials to local churches.
•  Develop a systematic leadership development training program for developing Model Children's Workers.

Here is what one pastor named Peter said:

"Our church is growing so fast we badly need help reaching the children.  Famililes are bringing their children to church and our old teaching model isn't working."

Will you help Peter and hundreds of pastors like him to equip their churches for ministry to children?
•  $500 dollars a month will support a national worker in Ukraine.
•  $100 will underwrite the cost of training five teachers.
